Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens): Used today for antiseptic, analgesic and insecticidal properties geraniums were commonly grown in window boxes during medieval times to discourage witches and demons entering the home!

Did you know that many of the essential oils we use today have been used throughout history as natural medicines and healers. Way back through time the wise woman used plant materials to produce tinctures, medicines, herbal oils and brews as aids to healing disease.

Steeped in mystery and superstition, many illnesses were believed to have been caused by supernatural influences and witchcraft and as such, healing had a much greater focus on protection and negating evil forces.

During this 3 hour workshop we will explore how some essential oils used today were prepared as natural medicines including their spiritual properties. We will examine plant chemistry and use plants to prepare tissanes and herbal oils and discover how these practices can be used to make simple remedies for home use today.
